Ghee also known as clarified butter is generally made from milk (cow milk or buffalo milk). It is very popular in Asian cooking and it has been used as cooking oil in India and Pakistan. It is also used for new born babies massage and in Ayurveda massage too. It is also used in herbal ointments as a base to aid rashes and burns.

Instructions

  • First step making white butter or safed makhan from malai (cream) – Click for recipe to how to make white butter at home
  • Transfer the butter into Kadai or deep pan and start heating on low flame

  • Butter will start melting in just 5 minutes and you’ll see clear bubbles forming on top Heat the butter till you see the clear ghee on top and hard burned milk solids in the bottom

  • Switch off the flame when you see the clear ghee and let it cool down to some extent
  • Strain the ghee in a clean container and you can store it in fridge or refrigerator for a longer period.
  • Enjoy the fresh and pure homemade ghee.

Tips

  • If you want to store the ghee for a longer time then heat the butter till milk solids completely burned (brown in color)
