Spicy Dry Achari Paneer Recipe

Paneer or Cottage cheese is very popular in India which is always served as starter or appetizer and main course in restaurants. Some of the famous dishes of paneer are paneer tikka, kadai paneer, malai paneer, butter paneer masala, paneer tikka masala, achari paneer so on… so on…

Today’s I will be sharing spicy dry achari paneer recipe which is very simple to make and can be served as starter and in main course too. So, let’s start with the step by step recipe to make delicious spicy dry achari paneer at home with simple ingredients:-

Ingredients

  • 200gm Paneer – Cubes
  • 1 big Onion – ¾ sliced and ¼ cubes
  • 1 big Tomato – Roughly Chopped
  • 1 Small Capsicum – Cubes
  • 6 Garlic Cloves – Chopped
  • 1 Inch Ginger – Chopped
  • 2 Green Chilies – Chopped
  • 1.5 tsp Achaar Masala (Pickle Powder)
  • 2 tbsp Mustard Oil
  • 1/8 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/8 tsp Jeera (Cumin Seeds)
  • ¼ tsp Red Chili Powder
  • Pinch of Asafoetida (Hing)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Kasuri Methi

Instructions

  • Heat mustard oil in a kadai or pan.
  • When oil is hot, add jeera, mustard seeds and when they start cracking add ginger, garlic, green chilies and cook till garlic change to light brown in color
  • Now add sliced onions and hing. Cook for a min. or till onions change to light pink color
  • Now turn flame to low and add achaar masala (pickle powder), red chili powder and mix well. Cook masala for 30 seconds.
  • Add tomatoes, salt to taste and mix well. Cook tomatoes slightly not completely. (cook for 2-3 min. on high flame)
  • Add cubes of onions, capsicum and mix well. Cook for a minute only so that they remain crunchy
  • Add Cubes of Paneer and mix well. Cover the pan with a lid and cook for a min.
  • Add Kasuri Methi, mix well and cook for another 15 seconds.
  • Switch off the flame and serve hot spicy dry achari paneer.

How to make Homemade Achaar Masala (Pickle Masala)

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp crushed Mustard Seeds (Rai)
  • ½ tsp Crushed Fenugreek Seeds (Methi Dana)
  • ¼ tsp Crushed Fennel Seeds (Saunf)
  • 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • Pinch of Asafoetida (Hing)
  • 1/8 tsp Turmeric (Haldi)

In a bowl, mix all masala together

Tips/Notes

  • Add salt carefully as pickle masala also has salt in it
  • To make it more spicy, you can add ¼ tsp of Garam Masala
  • Serve Spicy Dry Achari Paneer with lemon to add tangy flavor to the dish.
