Daliya is the hindi name of Broken wheat in India. Daliya can be making as sweet or savory dish. It is very healthy and can be eaten in breakfast, lunch or dinner. Following recipe is very simple and tasty with lots of vegetables; which will make Vegetable daliya more healthy and delicious.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup Daliya (Broken Wheat)
Daliya
  • 2 cloves of Garlic – Chopped
  • 1 small piece of Ginger – Chopped
  • 1 small Onion – Sliced
  • 1 small Carrot – Sliced
  • 1/2 cup Cauliflower
  • ½ cup Mushrooms
  • ¼ cup of Capsicum
  • ¼ cup of Green Beans
Vegetables
  • ¼ cup of Peas
  • 1 small Tomato – chopped
  • Pinch of Asafoetida (Hing)
  • ¼ of Jeera (Cumin Seeds)
  • ¼ teaspoon of Haldi (Turmeric)
  • ½ teaspoon of Red Chili Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 ½ cups of water
  • 2 tablespoons of Ghee or Oil for Tadka


Instructions

Daliya
  1. Heat ghee or oil in a pressure cooker. Once the Oil is hot, add Asafoetida and Jeera. Cook until jeera sizzle. Add chopped Ginger-garlic and stir-fry for 35-45 seconds. Add sliced onions, carrots, mushrooms and stir-fry for 30-40 seconds.
  2. Add Cauliflower, Peas and stir-fry for 30 seconds. Add all the dry masala. Stir fry for 30-40 seconds and add chopped tomato. Cook until oil separates. Add daliya, capsicum and mix it well.
  3. Add the water and pressure cook till one whistle. Turn the flame to low after the whistle. Switch off the flame after 10 min. (Cooking time will vary depending upon quality of dalia)
  4. Serve hot once the all the pressure goes from cooker.


Tips

  1. Cook daliya in ghee to make it more tasty and healthy.
  2. Sprinkle chat masala and lemon juice while serving the daliya to add the tangy flavor and to make it more tasty
