Dry Chilli Paneer or Dry Chili Paneer is a very popular Indo-Chinese starter/appetizer that is great for dinner party or birthday party. It is very delicious dish which can be served as starter or side-dish or main dish with Chinese fried rice, schezwan fried rice or veg hakka noodles. It is always loved by kids & adults. Please follow step by step recipe to make quick, easy and simple restaurant style dry chilli paneer at home.

Ingredients

For making Fried Paneer

  • 200 gm Paneer – Cut in Cubes
  • 6 tbsp Corn Flour
  • 4 tbsp All Purpose Flour (Maida)
  • ½ cup Water
  • ¼ tsp Black Pepper (Kali Mirch)
  • Salt to Taste
  • Oil for Frying

For Making Thick Gravy

  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 6 cloves of Garlic – Chopped
  • Small Piece of Ginger – Chopped
  • 2-3 Green Chillies – Slit
  • 1 Big Onion – Cut in Cubes
  • 1 Big Capsicum – Cut in Cubes
  • 2-3 Spring Onions for Garnishing
  • ½ tsp Red Chilli Sauce
  • 1 tsp Soya Sauce
  • ½ tsp Vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Corn Flour
  • ¼ cup Water
  • Salt to taste

  
Instructions


For frying paneer:

  1. Add paneer cubes in a bowl, add corn flour, maida, black pepper, salt and mix. Add water and mix thoroughly.
  2. Heat the oil and deep fry paneer until they turn to golden brown and keep them aside.

For Gravy

  1. Heat oil in a medium pan. Once the oil is hot, add ginger, garlic and sauté for 20 seconds. Add green chillis, onions and sauté for 20-30 seconds.
  2. Add capsicum and sauté for another 10 seconds.
  3. Add red chilli sauce, soya souce, vinegar and mix it. Now add corn flour water (mix corn flour in 2 tbsp water), salt and keep stirring the gravy to avoid forming the lumps. Now turn the flame to low once it start boiling and add remaining water.
  4. Once the gravy thickens (after 3-4 minutes), add fried paneer, mix thoroughly and cover the pan with lid for 2 minutes.
  5. Switch off the flame and garnish the dish with chopped spring onions (green onions).


Tips

  • Add water little by little while mixing the paneer with corn flour and maida to avoid lumps
  • Add water little by little while mixing the corn flour with water to avoid lumps
  • To make the dish more colourful, you can also add red and yellow bell peppers.
