Chickpea / Channa salad (चन्ना सलाद) is ideal recipe for people who are trying to lose weight because chickpea (channa) is very nutritious, inexpensive, great in taste, easy and quick to make. This recipe is so simple and easy which you can make with easily available ingredients in the kitchen. So let’s start and please follow the following recipe step by step to make simple, easy and healthy chickpea salad or channa salad (चन्ना सलाद) at home: –

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Chickpea/Channa – Boiled
  • 1 small Onion – Chopped
  • 1 Small Tomato – Chopped
  • 1 Small Cucumber – Chopped
  • 1 Small Capsicum – Chopped
  • 3 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • ¾ tsp Chaat Masala
  • Salt to taste


Instructions

  • First soak chickpea/channa for 4-5 hours or overnight then pressure cook them for 1 whistle only.
  • In a large mixing bowl, add boiled chickpea/channa.
  • Now add chopped onion, tomatoes, cucumber, capsicum and mix.
  • Now add Chaat masala, Salt, lemon juice and mix them well.
  • Serve it in a small bowl and enjoy this healthy chickpea/channa salad.

Tips

  • To make this recipe more colorful and healthy, you can add Paneer/tofu, cilantro, red, yellow, orange bell peppers.
  • If you are on Diet to lose weight, you can cut salt from above recipe as Chaat Masala also has some salt in it
  • You can also make salad dressing by mixing following ingredients (but I like my salad to be very simple):-
    • 1/2 tsp Oilve Oil
    • 2 tbsp Vinegar (apple cider vinegar or red wine vinegar)
    • Salt and Pepper to taste
